Here's the first letter in the bunch that I had started to save. There are other earlier ones that I kept because they struck a familiar cord with me and I will throw those in here when I get caught up with the series of these which are post-work bulletin board letters. Alright, here we go:
8-9-14
Howdy:
^ ^ ^ See the above articles. On the left, as it says, this will be our second DRY weekend since March. Better enjoy it ! And on the right, as it says, the Brewers finally won their second series ( out of ten ) since July 1st, against the Giants. Pretty soon you could have compared the Brewers to our Thursday night softball team. We ended the season 1 and 13. Now if you go back to 2006, we have won 10, & lost 114.
P.S. THIS IS THE LAST LETTER BEFORE VACATION.
Yesterday I got a Journal, and over to Vinnie's (aside: Saint Vincent DePaul's) for 3.5 hrs. I got a nice chunk of my area cleaned up. Then home, and I wanted to get my 5 mile walk in, before it got cloudy. It was an enjoyable walk, with the deep blue sky, puffy clouds. Some farmers were chopping hay, while another was combining wheat. I made it home in two hours. According to Mary's pedometer, I took 12,102 steps. That was my first walk since August 1st. When I got home, I wrote letters. Then I helped watch the grandkids until they were picked up at 5 PM. I saw my first hummingbird of the year yesterday. It was spending a lot of time in Mary's orange lilly plants.
Today I left early to get a Journal, and mail letters, before going to St. Vinnie's for 3.5 hours. That gives me 21 hours for the week at Vinnie's. Today, first thing I did at Vinnie's was take all 180 golf clubs that we had available in the store, & threw them into the scrap metal bin. Then I priced and put out into the store, the latest 180 golf clubs that we got in. Whew ! Then I priced 30 fishing poles. Then I priced a cart of sporting goods, and two carts of toys. That was enough for the day. From Vinnie's, I went over to Betty's (aside: a lady from his church) house for a quick visit, ran an errand for her, then home.
Today's insert : Seeing I am going on vacation,I found a couple pretty pictures from the Journal. They brought back memories from our family trip on August 13, 1995. The Glen Canyon Dam, creates the Glen Canyon National Recreational Area, which is the upper picture. We went to Page, AZ. We took a boat tour, getting on a boat near that dam, which took us north in the Glen Canyon National Recreational Area and into Utah, where we saw the Rainbow Bridge National Mon. Page, AZ, has a McDonalds, and I ate Big Mac #13,607 on that day. That's, a long time ago, I just ate Big Mac #27,329.
Today's throw away photo : I found a pretty picture that I took of the sky, south of our house last month (aside: I may have thrown it away like he said to do) . When I do my 5 mile walks, I spend a lot of time looking at the sky. Hey, I still have room to list our softball record since '06 :
2006 won 4 lost 10
2007 0 14
2008 1 11
2009 0 14
2010 1 13
2011 0 14
2012 0 14
2013 3 11
2014 1 13
Are we good, or what ! Take care, (signed: Don)
